Senior Congress leaders held a press conference and announced that they would be conducting public awareness campaigns and protests at the assembly constituency level for the next three months, focusing on local issues. Speaking to reporters at the Congress office, State President Ganesh Godiyal said that the Congress party would gherao (surround) the Governor’s residence on February 16th.
Harak Singh Rawat, Chairman of the Congress Election Management Committee, said that party workers would go among the people and raise their voices against the state government’s wrong policies. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that corruption has created a crisis for the very existence of the state. He added that incidents of crimes against women are continuously increasing. Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh said that the people of the state are suffering due to rising inflation
