New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday. Giving information about the meeting, the Prime Minister said that India and China are making steady progress in their diplomatic relations.
PM Modi said on X, “Since my meeting with President Xi Jinping in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress with respect for each other’s interests.” During their meeting, Yi handed over a message and invitation from President Xi Jinping for the SCO summit.
PM Modi further said, “I am eagerly looking forward to our next meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Stable, predictable and constructive relations between India and China will significantly contribute to regional, global peace and prosperity.” Chinese Foreign Minister meets Ajit Doval
Before his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the Chinese Foreign Minister also met National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of maintaining peace on the border and reiterated India’s commitment to a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the border dispute.
PM Modi will visit China
Let us tell you that the Prime Minister will visit China on August 31 for the SCO summit. This visit will be his first visit to China since 2018. Amid the cordial relations between India and China, the Prime Minister has met President Xi Jinping during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia last year.
During the BRICS meeting in 2024, Prime Minister Modi had said, “Maintaining peace and harmony on the border should be our priority and mutual trust, mutual respect as well as mutual sensitivity should remain the basis of our relations. I am confident that we will talk with an open heart and our discussions will be constructive.”
