New Delhi: The Government of India is starting the “Lab to Land” program from October 3. Scientists will reach villages directly and tell farmers about new techniques for Rabi crop cultivation, improved seeds, soil health and methods of higher production at lower cost. This will not only increase the income of farmers, but they will also be able to improve their farming by taking advantage of government schemes.
Knowledge of new techniques to the fields:
Under the “Lab to Land” initiative of the Government of India, scientists will tell farmers about modern farming methods for Rabi crops. Its purpose is that farmers increase the production of their crops and reduce costs by adopting new techniques. This initiative will prove to be a boon especially for farmers living in remote villages, because they will now get information about innovations in farming directly at their farms. Farmers will get support from scientists:
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has assured that teams of scientists will inform farmers about new techniques and advanced farming measures. This campaign will not only connect farmers with new technologies, but will also teach them practical methods, which will increase production and reduce expenses.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “Various teams of scientists will inform farmers about new technologies and advanced agricultural measures and this campaign will not only connect farmers with new technologies, but will also teach them practical ways to increase production and reduce costs.”
2170 teams with farmers:
Minister Chauhan said that about 16 thousand scientists are doing research in laboratories in the country, but their benefits are not reaching the farmers. To overcome this deficiency, the government has formed 2170 teams, which will connect scientists directly with farmers. This initiative will continue in the future as well, so that the agriculture sector can improve.
Proper use of soil, seeds and water:
Senior scientist of ICAR-IARI, Dr. RS Bana said that farmers benefited a lot from this campaign during Kharif crops. Farmers got information about soil health, correct use of fertilizers and water and good seeds. Many farmers are now increasing their production by adopting modern techniques.
Region-wise technical advice:
The aim of this initiative is to inform the farmers about region-specific techniques for Rabi crops. Along with this, they will be informed about government schemes and policies. The use of soil health card for soil testing and balanced use of fertilizers will be advised. Apart from this, the opinion of the farmers will also be taken.
Low cost, high profit:
Uttar Pradesh farmer Amarpal said that such government initiatives helped him learn new methods of farming at low cost, which increased production and increased income. This initiative is strengthening the economic condition of farmers by connecting them with innovations.
Success in Kharif, now it is Rabi’s turn:
This year, during Kharif crops, the government organized 61 thousand programs in 720 districts through teams of 2170 scientists in 20 states. More than 1.35 crore farmers participated in these. These programmes taught farmers better methods in areas such as scientific cultivation of Kharif crops, dairy, poultry, fisheries, beekeeping and mushroom production. Also, 300 farmer-led innovations, 70 policy issues and 500 researchable topics were recorded.
