Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi today paid tribute to martyr Rifleman Manoj Rana, a resident of Rajpur, by participating in the tribute program organized on his 12th death anniversary. On this occasion, Minister Joshi said that the sacrifice of martyr Manoj Rana is a symbol of the highest sacrifice in the service of the nation, which can never be forgotten. He said that respecting the martyrs and preserving their memories should be the first duty of every citizen.
Sainik Welfare Minister Joshi said that the heroes of Uttarakhand have increased the honor of the country on every front. Be it the Kargil war, terrorist attacks or the protection of borders, every son of Uttarakhand never backed down from sacrificing his life. He also said that the service and respect of the families of martyred soldiers is the priority of the Uttarakhand government. He said that with the aim of making the memories of the martyrs everlasting, a grand military shrine is being constructed in Guniyal village of Dehradun, which will soon be dedicated to the people of the state. He said that this military shrine will become a symbol of the heroic tales of Uttarakhand, which people from the country and abroad will come to see.
Manoj Rana was serving in 2/4 Gorkha Rifles. He was martyred during a terrorist attack in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir in 2013.
