From Thursday, traffic on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway will be closed for two hours each in two phases. During this time, there will be no pedestrian movement. The reason for this is the improvement work to be done at Tyung Band on the Bhiri-Parkandi-Makku motor road. PWD has informed the administration and NH in this regard.
Due to heavy rains, the Bhiri-Parkandi-Makku motor road was washed out by 30 meters due to a landslide near Tyung Band. A safety wall is to be constructed in the affected part of the road. There is a rocky area here, due to which, during the work, there is a danger of stones and debris falling on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway passing just below. Therefore, PWD has decided to close the highway in two phases. During this time, security personnel will be deployed on both ends of the affected area on the highway.
Assistant Engineer of Public Works Department Ukhimath Division Anuj Bhardwaj said that due to the improvement work of Bhiri-Parkandi-Makku motor road, traffic will remain closed on Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway from 10 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 3 pm. Because during the cutting of rocks with the help of machines on the connecting road, stones and debris will fall on the highway, due to which this arrangement has been made. He said that two JCBs will be deployed on both sides for cleaning the debris and stones on the highway
