The doors of Lord Rudranath, the fourth Kedarnath, will be closed for the winter season on Friday, October 17th. The Rudranath Doli will arrive in Gopeshwar on Friday itself. Around 500 devotees have arrived in Rudranath for the closing of the doors.
Rudranath priest Sunil Tiwari stated that the worship of Lord Rudranath will begin at 4 am. After all the rituals are completed, the temple doors will be closed for the winter season at 6 am. The Doli will depart from Rudranath at 7:30 am. It will travel via Panch Ganga, Pitridhar, and Panar Gugyal to reach Moli Bugyal. There, the Lord will be offered Rajbhog (an offering of new grains). From there, the Doli will proceed to Sagar village, where new grains will also be offered.
The Doli will reach Gopinath Temple before sunset, where the Lord will be offered new grains. Lord Rudranath’s Doli will remain in the Gopinath Temple premises for six months. It was reported that when the doors are closed, the deity will be covered with 251 bunches of Mandar (Bukhla) flowers. These flowers are distributed as prasad when the doors open
