The Congress party held a massive rally on Monday to protest the rising crime rates and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
A large crowd gathered at the proposed rally. Senior party leaders, including state in-charge Shailaja, appeared on stage together before the Lok Bhavan siege march. Congress workers had put up promotional material for the march to the Governor’s residence, but it was removed this morning. Congress leaders condemned this, stating that the government wants to suppress voices.
State Congress workers gathered on Monday to surround Lok Bhavan to raise public issues. Party leaders and workers from across the state participated in the protest. Led by senior party leaders, the workers gathered at the Parade Ground to protest against crimes against women, unemployment, inflation, law and order, corruption, wild animal attacks, migration, relief and compensation for disaster victims, poor health services, and the lack of compensation for crop loss to farmers.
All party leaders and workers gathered at the Parade Ground, from where they set out for the Lok Bhavan siege march. At the rally, State President Ganesh Godiyal, Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Congress Election Management Committee Chairman Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, and former State President Karan Mahra, along with all senior party leaders and workers, raised their voice against the BJP government.
Due to the proposed Congress rally, the police have implemented a route diversion plan. State Youth Congress in-charge and National General Secretary Surabhi Dwivedi said that the Youth Congress will act as a shield against those who spread anarchy and disrupt peace in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. The Youth Congress’s soldiers of love will stand up to protect the people from these anarchic elements.
Dwivedi said that there was a time when Dehradun was known as a safe city, but today, an atmosphere of fear is being created by spreading anarchy in the state. He alleged that organizations like the Bajrang Dal are attempting to spread violence in the name of religion and are receiving government protection. He said, “The Bajrang Dal is not a registered organization.”
Hooliganism is being committed in the name of Bajrang Bali. He questioned that if Bajrang Dal is really a Hindu protector, then why did it not raise its voice for justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case?
