Dehradun: Terming the brutal killing of tourists in Pahalgam by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists as a cowardly act, the state’s Tourism, Religious Affairs and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj has said that the registration of 77 Pakistani pilgrims for coming to Chardham and Hemkund Yatra has been cancelled with immediate effect.
Giving information, the state’s Tourism, Religious Affairs and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the government has completed all the preparations for the Chardham Yatra. Tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees regarding the Yatra. So far, more than 22 lakh devotees have registered online for the Chardham Yatra. Which also includes more than 25 thousand foreign devotees from 185 countries. After the brutal killing of tourists in Pahalgam by terrorists, the government has taken a decision with immediate effect and cancelled the registration of all 77 devotees of Pakistan coming for the Chardham Yatra. He said that the brutal killing of tourists in Pahalgam by terrorists is a cowardly act. Tourism and terrorism cannot go together, so we have cancelled the registration of all the devotees from Pakistan.
Tourism Minister Shri Maharaj informed that 10 new motorcycles have been given to Uttarkashi district police to ensure traffic management on the Chardham Yatra routes. These will continuously patrol the sensitive narrow routes from Gangaani to Dabrani, Dabrani to Sukki, Jhala to Harshil, Dharali to Bhaironghati, Silkyara to Radi Top, Radi Top to Aurchha, Barkot to Dobata, Paligad to Syana Chatti, Syana to Rana Chatti, Rana Chatt to Hanuman Chatti and Hanuman Chatti to Janaki Chatti-Kharsali. In view of the convenience of the passengers and to ensure that they do not face any problem in helicopter booking, instructions have been given to the officers to take strict action to stop the black marketing of helicopter tickets and to stop the collection of parking fees on the Yatra road.
Shri Maharaj said that along with online, offline registration, registration through mobile app, this year facility of registration through Aadhar number has also been provided for the devotees coming on Chardham Yatra. Offline registration will start from April 28, 2025. Offline registration will be done at 04 places. These include Haridwar, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and Herbertpur.
