Regarding the Union Budget 2026, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that whenever the central government launches a scheme, our state is always included. The Prime Minister has a deep affection for Uttarakhand, and therefore, he pays special attention to the state. We always receive more than expected from the budget, and this time too, we expect to receive more than anticipated.
Meanwhile, farmers in Uttarakhand have high expectations from the central government’s budget. The farmers say that the government should guarantee the purchase of 100% of their crops at a fixed price. They also want the government to encourage farmers to cultivate cash crops and take concrete steps to protect crops from wild animals. The farmers say that they cultivate both traditional and cash crops, but there is no guarantee of the purchase of 100% of their crops at a minimum support price.
Farmers’ Expectations from the Central Government
This is why farmers are often forced to sell their crops at throwaway prices, which doesn’t even cover their costs. Neeraj Mehra, a resident of Malla Niglath village in Nainital district, says that wild animals are causing significant damage to crops in the hilly districts. 90 percent of the people have given up farming because of this. They hope that the central government will introduce a concrete plan for crop protection in this budget.
According to H.P. Joshi, a resident of Mothrowala, farmers do not get proper seeds. They want the government to ensure the availability of high-quality seeds. Mohan Singh Bora, a resident of Dudhli, says that people in the area are unable to practice organic farming because of the polluted water from Dehradun city flowing into their fields. This has also led to skin-related problems. They hope that the government will take some steps in this direction
