Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir): Teams of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the homes of a businessman in the Gulura area of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district and Kupwara district on Monday morning in connection with the Delhi Red Fort blast case.
NIA officials are conducting searches and examining documents and devices. Earlier this month, a special NIA court in Patiala House extended the judicial custody of seven accused, including Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan, Dr. Adil Ahmed, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr. Muzammil, Yasir Ahmed Dar, and Nasir Bilal Malla.
They were produced in court via video conferencing, after which Special Judge (NIA) Pitambar Dutt extended their judicial custody for the next 15 days.
On March 11, the last date of hearing, the NIA stated that the investigation in the case was hampered by the protests in support of Ayatollah Khamenei in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two accused, Tufail Ahmed Bhat and Zameer Ahmed Ahangar, were detained in NIA custody for five days. The court had already extended the investigation by 45 days. Two individuals from Jammu and Kashmir were arrested for allegedly being linked to the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) terrorist organization for supplying weapons to the main accused.
In a statement, the NIA said that both accused, Zameer Ahmed Ahangar of Ganderbal and Tufail Ahmed Bhat of Srinagar, are active over-ground workers (OGWs) of the AGH, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 11. A massive car bomb blast occurred near the Red Fort on November 11, 2025. The NIA first arrested Aamir Rashid Mir on November 16, 2025. Subsequently, the other accused, namely Jasir Bilal Wani, Mufti Irfan Ahmed, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr. Shaheen Saeed and Soyeb, were arrested on different dates.
