Ramnagar: Three incidents of theft in Pirumdara area of the city last night have given sleepless nights to the police. The thefts in three different houses in one night have not only raised questions on the vigilance and patrolling of the police, but have also created an atmosphere of panic among the local people.
First incident of theft: The first incident took place in the house of Gaurav Nainwal, a resident of Pirumdara Badri Vihar III in Ramnagar. Gaurav told that he had gone out with his family to attend the funeral of his grandmother a few days ago. The house was closed and all the doors were locked. In the morning, when the neighbors saw the lock of the house broken, they called Gaurav and informed him. When Gaurav reached his house, he saw that all the things were scattered. The cupboards were broken and the thieves had stolen the cash, jewelry, utensils and clothes and other valuables kept in the house.
Second incident in Madhuban Colony: The second incident took place in the nearby Pirumdara Madhuban Colony on the same night. Thieves targeted a closed house here. The house owner Dharma Devi was living in Delhi with her family for the last one month. Dharma Devi told that thieves broke the locks of her house and tenant Munni Devi’s rooms and stole cash and jewellery worth thousands. Dharma Devi told that about ₹10,000 cash and gold jewellery are missing from her house.

Tenant’s cash and jewellery stolen: Thieves also stole from Dharma Devi’s tenant’s room. According to tenant Munni Devi, ₹12,000 cash and gold and silver jewellery have been stolen. In both the cases, the thieves ransacked the entire house.
Questions raised on the working of the police: People of the area say that many incidents of theft have happened before this as well. But till date not even a single case has been disclosed. People questioned the working of the police post and said that only claims of patrolling and surveillance are made.
Terror due to theft incidents: Victim Gaurav Nainwal said that the family was in deep sorrow, during that time the thieves broke into our house. All the stuff was scattered in the room, it seems that the thieves had come with full preparation. Victim Munni Devi said that the house was locked, yet the thieves entered inside and took everything, now we are scared even during the day, there is no effect of the presence of police.
This incident of theft in three houses in a single night not only raises questions on police patrolling and the outpost system. Local people have demanded from the police that old theft cases should also be disclosed soon and patrolling should be increased in the area, so that such incidents do not happen again.
