The festival of Rakshabandhan is being celebrated with great pomp. Sisters tied rakhi on the wrists of their brothers and wished them long life and happiness. The process of sending rakhis to brothers by post continues before Rakshabandhan. So far 76641 rakhi posts have arrived in the postal department, out of which 59742 posts have been distributed.
About 16 thousand rakhis could not be posted due to wrong address and other reasons. So far 2647 posts have been registered in the ordinary Rakhi post service of India Post. Apart from this, more than 10 rakhis are being sent daily through speed post and 700 to 800 through ordinary posts. The process of receiving rakhis continues even a day before Rakshabandhan. The work pressure on the post office employees has increased. 10785 rakhis were delivered on Friday as well.
Sisters get the gift of free travel in buses today
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, sisters have got the gift of free travel in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses today. Women are taking advantage of free travel in the corporation’s ordinary buses. The expenditure incurred on the Transport Corporation will be reimbursed by the government. Corporation’s Divisional General Manager Suresh Chauhan said that an order was sent to all the depots to facilitate free travel to women on Raksha Bandhan.
