New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified the attack on the claims of alleged rigging in the elections. In this sequence, a web portal has been launched by the Congress. Through this, people have been urged to support the people.
The party said that by registering on the web portal, one can demand accountability from the Election Commission of India against ‘vote theft’ and express support for the Leader of the Opposition’s demand for a digital voter list.
In a video posted on the portal, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘This is treason, this is sedition, time will come! We will catch you! You are not going to escape! It is important that we expose vote theft.’ In a post on X in Hindi, Gandhi said, ‘Vote theft’ is an attack on the basic democratic principle of ‘one person, one vote’. He also stressed that a clean voter list is necessary for free and fair elections.
He said, ‘Our demand from the Election Commission is clear. Show transparency and make the digital voter list public, so that the public and political parties can audit it themselves. Rahul Gandhi urged people to support this demand by registering on the vote theft portal. He further said, ‘This is a fight to protect democracy.’ Anyone can download ‘Proof of vote theft, demand for accountability of Election Commission and report of vote theft’ by clicking on the portal link.’
In the video on the portal, he reiterated his explosive claims of ‘large-scale criminal fraud’ in the elections in collusion with the BJP and the Election Commission. A constituency in Karnataka has been claimed to be rigged. Said, ‘In just one assembly constituency of Bengaluru Central, we found more than one lakh fake voters who helped the BJP win this Lok Sabha seat.
Further said, ‘Imagine if this was happening in 70-100 seats, it would ruin free elections.’ The message on the portal reads, ‘Congress has raised concerns in many places including Maharashtra earlier. Now we have proof. We will fight with all our might against this vote theft. Join us to protect our democracy.’ After registering on the portal, a certificate is issued in his name stating that he is against ‘vote theft’.
The certificate reads, ‘I support Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a digital voter list from the Election Commission.’ The portal also gives people the option to register by calling a number and filling in the link provided in the SMS. The certificate is signed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and treasurer Ajay Maken.
Several Congress leaders and supporters registered on the portal and shared the certificates on social media. Amid Congress leaders vociferously raising the allegation of ‘vote theft’ against Rahul Gandhi, Election Commission officials on Saturday once again pressured the opposition leader to either sign a declaration in support of his claims or apologise to the nation for making ‘fake’ allegations. A day after a heated exchange between Rahul Gandhi and the Election Commission over alleged vote theft in at least three states, poll officials again insisted on a signed declaration by the Congress leader to substantiate his claims.
