New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Japan on Thursday evening to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. This will be Prime Minister Modi’s eighth visit to Japan, while this will be his first summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that during this visit, the two Prime Ministers will review the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan, which includes defense and security, trade, economy, technology, innovation and mutual exchange between people. Apart from this, both the leaders will also discuss regional and global issues.
PM Modi will go to China
In the second phase of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will visit China from August 31 to September 1 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit (SCO) in Tianjin at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Apart from the summit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with many leaders attending the summit.
It is worth noting that it has been almost a year since the two leaders met, the last meeting was held in October last year, after which India and China announced success in talks to resolve their military standoff on the Line of Actual Control.
Jaishankar met Xi Jinping in China
Let us tell you that last month External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Xi Jinping in China. This was his first visit to China after the deterioration in relations between the two countries in 2020. At that time, Jaishankar had said that he conveyed best wishes to Jinping on behalf of President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi.
Chinese Foreign Minister talks to Doval
Apart from this, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently held talks with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, after which several major initiatives, including the resumption of direct flights between the two countries, were finalized.
