Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself controls Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday, Mamata directly targeted the country’s Home Minister.
At a meeting of Trinamool Congress workers regarding the voter list changes, Mamata Banerjee mentioned the Election Commission’s role. She alleged that the Commission’s constant changes to the directive and the glitches in the app were part of a BJP-crafted script. The Chief Minister said that the Election Commission is acting on whatever the BJP office says. The Trinamool Congress leader did not shy away from taking a dig at who has what influence in the corridors of power in Delhi. Taking aim at the Home Minister, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Shah controls everything. She suspects that even the Prime Minister does not control things. She said that Amit Shah controls PM Modi and the country.
Mamata Banerjee also strongly criticized the central BJP government for erasing Mahatma Gandhi’s name and the widespread use of the name Ram across the country. Mamata alleged that the Home Minister was behind the repeated changes to the rules governing the app and voter list changes.
She claimed that the Commission was not acting alone, but at the behest of Delhi or according to a plan formulated by the Home Minister’s office. According to political circles, Mamata Banerjee’s direct and personal attack on Amit Shah could be a blueprint for her future political strategy ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. BJP Conspiracy
Mamata Banerjee alleged that a deep-rooted conspiracy was underway to remove 15 million names from the voter list. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reiterated this fear at a meeting of party workers at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday. Launching a scathing attack on the Election Commission and the BJP, she warned party workers to remain vigilant. She said, “If Bengal does not exist, the country will not exist.” She accused the BJP of trying to capture Bengal.
Mamata alleged that the Election Commission is working at the behest of the BJP. She said that BJP members are demanding the removal of 15 million more names from Bengal. She said that the BJP believes that by manipulating things, they will win elections. With this mindset, they are trying to capture Bengal. She claimed that this is an insult to the people of Bengal and an attempt to erase the state’s history.
Questioning the role of the Election Commission, the Chief Minister said that Kolkata district previously had 100 wards, which have now increased to 144. Due to delimitation or redrawing of boundaries in 2009, many voters have moved from one constituency to another.
However, she alleged that the mapping or arrangement in the voter list is incorrect. Calling it a “major mistake”, Mamata said, “Has the Commission considered the delimitation that took place after 2002? A voter whose address was different earlier now has a different address due to the change in ward. If voters are removed due to this technical reason, it will not be accepted.”
