New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone on Wednesday. During the call, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen their strategic partnership.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “Happy to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and extend New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel strategic partnership in the coming year. We also exchanged views on the situation in the region and reiterated our resolve to fight terrorism with greater firmness.” Modi added that they also exchanged views on the regional situation. This conversation follows several high-level interactions between the two leaders in recent months.
In December, Netanyahu spoke with PM Modi, and the two leaders agreed to maintain continuous contact. This conversation was a continuation of their previous interaction in December 2025, during which they expressed satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations. Both leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties.
Notably, discussions followed the cancellation of Netanyahu’s proposed visit to India in 2025. This was the third postponement after the November blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, which was attributed to security concerns. The India-Israel friendship rests on a strong foundation based on defense, technology, and innovation. Such regular high-level interactions indicate a commitment to taking cooperation to new heights.
