New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday surpassed the historic milestone of 100 million followers on Instagram. By crossing this mark, PM Modi has set a new world record. He has become the first political leader in the world to achieve this feat on this social media platform.
According to reports, PM Modi joined Instagram in 2014. His followers on Instagram are more than double that of US President Donald Trump. The combined number of followers of the next five world leaders is less than PM Modi’s single number of followers. This achievement demonstrates his influential social media presence.
US President Donald Trump is second on Instagram with 43.2 million followers. Following him, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is third with 15 million followers, Brazilian President Lula Lula is fourth with 14.4 million followers, Turkish President Erdogan is fifth with 11.6 million followers, and Argentine President Javier Mailey is sixth with 6.4 million followers.
The PM is also far ahead of other Indian leaders on this social media platform. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is second with approximately 16.1 million followers, and Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is third with approximately 12.6 million followers. Currently, PM Modi is in Israel on a two-day official visit.
Since PM Modi began his social media journey, his activity has steadily increased. Since assuming power, he has been working to promote Digital India. According to information received, PM Modi has posted over 1,200 posts on Instagram so far. He doesn’t follow anyone on Instagram, but his following has surpassed 100 million.
On Wednesday, the Israeli Parliament honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the “Speaker of the Knesset Medal,” the Knesset’s highest honor.
