New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in Delhi on Sunday night. The meeting took place at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister’s official residence. It is believed that the CCS meeting discussed the current global situation arising from the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
According to reports, Prime Minister Modi called the CCS meeting after returning to Delhi on Sunday night from his two-day state tour. During his two-day visit, PM Modi visited Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
The CCS is the highest decision-making body on the country’s security and strategic matters. The Prime Minister is the Chairman of the CCS, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are its members.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei was killed in a major attack on Iran by Israel and the US. Iran’s state television and the official news agency, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), announced the death of 86-year-old Khamenei early Sunday.
US President Donald Trump said this presented Iranians with the greatest opportunity to seize control of their country. Trump said heavy and precise bombing would continue for as long as necessary.
