The anger of the people is increasing in Syanachatti, which has been submerged due to the lake formed on the Yamuna river in Uttarkashi. Today, local villagers protested by standing near the submerged Yamunotri bridge.
People held the district administration responsible for this and raised slogans. Seeing the aggressive attitude of the villagers, the administration also got nervous. The DA, MLA and District Panchayat President, who reached among the villagers by raft, also had to face heavy opposition from the disaster affected people. The DM assured to open the lake soon and provide all possible help.
PWD, SDRF, Irrigation Department and other related agencies are engaged in opening a part of the lake. In the last one hour, the water level of the lake has decreased by about two feet.
At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman to take appropriate steps to channelize the water from the lake formed in Syanachatti Chatti in coordination with the district administration. Let us tell you that on Thursday, the water level of the lake formed in the Yamuna river had increased again due to debris and large stones in Kupda Khad near Syanachatti on the Yamunotri Highway.
