In connection with the violence in Patel Nagar following the objectionable comment on Prophet Muhammad, the police have identified approximately 50 individuals who were suspected of inciting religious frenzy and causing a commotion. Sixteen of these individuals have been identified and legal action will be taken against them soon.
Official police sources stated that 300 to 400 people gathered on the street are under investigation. Those responsible for the violence and religious frenzy are being identified. Police teams have obtained footage from approximately 17 CCTV cameras around Patel Nagar’s Bazaar Chowki, as well as over 20 video clips taken from various mobile phones.
Screenshots of over 50 suspects have been obtained through these footage. Efforts are underway to identify them. The 16 identified individuals will soon be issued notices to join the investigation. All of them are residents of the area between Bazaar Chowki and Menhuwala.
Some Shopkeepers and Their Employees on the Radar
Some shopkeepers on the main road around the Bazaar Chowki are under police surveillance for this entire uproar. It has been reported that some shopkeepers and their employees played a major role in gathering and inciting the crowd. Their call records are under investigation. It is believed that calls and messages from certain shops led to a large number of people arriving at the Bazaar Chowki on scooters and bikes within just one hour from a six- to seven-kilometer radius. A conspiracy is suspected behind the gathering of the crowd. Police are gathering technical evidence to confirm this suspicion. Once evidence is obtained, strict legal action will be taken.
Eight Police Teams Searching for Rioters
Several police teams are working to identify the rioters through mobile video and CCTV footage and take legal action against them. CO Sadar Ankit Kandhari stated that multiple individuals are suspected to be involved in the riot, so the primary task is to identify the rioters. Eight police teams have been formed for this purpose, working in different areas.
The police investigation and action against the rioters are ongoing. The investigation has revealed that several individuals were involved in inciting the mob. They will be identified and traced soon, and legal action will be taken against them.
