Dehradun: Entry of all private, commercial vehicles coming to Uttarakhand from outside states will be expensive. The cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the rates of Green Cess by 28 to 30 percent. Green Cess is already being collected from commercial vehicles. Recovery will start after June 15 for private vehicles from outside states.
Under the cabinet decision, Green Cess of vehicles registered in the state has been kept unchanged. Green Cess is already being collected from commercial vehicles entering Uttarakhand from other states, but after the closure of checkposts in the year 2021, it was not possible to collect Green Cess from private category vehicles of other states entering the state. With the increase in the rates of Green Cess, now outside states will have to spend Rs 80 to Rs 700 for entry.
With the help of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera, Green Cess will be deducted from the Fastag account of the vehicle. For this, a system integrator has been selected. Now the process of integration of system integrator, National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and vehicle software is underway. Green cess collection from vehicles will be started within a month.
No cess on EV and two-wheelers. Cess will not be applicable on electric vehicles and two-wheelers coming from outside states in the state. Apart from this, green cess will not be collected from vehicles registered in Uttarakhand in the new system.
