Director General of Police Uttarakhand, Shri Deepam Seth* reached Harshil, Dharali disaster affected area of Uttrakhand district on 8 August 2025 and took stock of the physical inspection of the incident site and relief and rescue operations. *Instructions were given to the police, SDRF, fire and other disaster agencies engaged in rescue work to bring more speed and intensity in the rescue operations.* He met the disaster affected people and discussed various facts related to the incident while knowing their well-being.
After inspecting the tragedy site, he *reached Uttarkashi district headquarters and held a meeting of the police officers engaged in the rescue in the Police Line Auditorium and reviewed the rescue operations and discussed about disaster management and gave necessary guidelines.* He told that the rescue has been carried out well by the police and other rescue agencies so far amid rain and adverse physical conditions. Along with safely airlifting the injured and trapped people from the disaster affected area, we have to focus on the search and rescue work of the missing people in the disaster. It is our priority to find the missing people as soon as possible, in this tragic tragedy, we all have to do quick relief and rescue work with a better coordination and action plan. He gave proper guidance to everyone for effective and systematic disaster management.
He told that in the midst of this sad and devastating disaster, some people are spreading misleading information on social media and misleading people. Strictest action should be taken against such people. Keep a constant watch on social media.
