Mumbai: People from various walks of life gathered in Mumbai on Wednesday to remember and pay tribute to the martyrs and victims of the terrorist attacks that struck the city on November 26, 2008. The National Security Guard (NSG) organized the “Neverever” memorial at the Gateway of India to honor the martyrs, survivors, and all victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The NSG stated that this solemn event was to reaffirm the nation’s commitment that such an attack should never happen again. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack at the Martyrs’ Memorial Memorial in the Mumbai Police Commissionerate. He said, “I offer my humble tribute to the brave sons of India and innocent citizens who lost their lives during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Their courage and sacrifice will always be remembered by our nation.” Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde said, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to all the brave martyrs โ policemen and soldiers โ who, without caring for their own lives, sacrificed their lives saving the lives of many innocent civilians during the terrorist attacks on Mumbai on November 26, 2008. I also pay tribute to those innocent civilians who were killed.”
Deputy CM and NCP President Ajit Pawar said he paid tribute by laying flowers at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the Mumbai Police Commissionerate. This memorial was built in memory of the officers and personnel of the Mumbai Police Force and security forces who were martyred while fighting the 26/11 terrorist attacks.
Deputy CM Pawar said, “During the cowardly 26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, the brave soldiers of our security forces faced the terrorists with unparalleled courage, fortitude, and valor. They sacrificed their lives when the situation demanded, for the sake of the motherland, to save the lives of ordinary citizens. The sacrifice and martyrdom they made for the country will always be remembered. My heartfelt tribute to the brave sons of Mother India, the valiant soldiers, and the innocent citizens who lost their lives in this inhuman terrorist attack in Mumbai! A dark day in the history of our country.” Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti said, “Remembering the brave men who protected Mumbai in its darkest hour. Bravery shone brightest on the longest night. Honoring the courage that grows, strengthens, shines, and carries us forward.” Earlier in the day, in a post on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to all those who lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, saying, “Terrorism is a curse not just for one country, but for all humanity.”
Shah further wrote, “On this day in 2008, terrorists carried out a cowardly attack on Mumbai and committed heinous and inhuman acts. I pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives while valiantly facing the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and to all those who lost their lives in this cowardly attack. Terrorism is a curse not just for one country, but for all humanity.” The Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism is clearly being praised by the entire world and is providing full support to India’s anti-terrorism operations.
