Now people from non-military background can also be recruited through Uttarakhand Ex-Serviceman Welfare Corporation. This recruitment will be only for jobs abroad. According to Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, people with non-military background will be given jobs in 50 percent of the posts abroad.
UPNL was formed by the state government in 2004 for ex-servicemen and their dependents, so that they can be given appointments in various departments through it. But from time to time people from non-military background have been recruited in it. After complaints of recruitment of favourites and influential people, there is still a ban on the recruitment of people with non-military background through UPNL.
According to Brigadier JNS Bisht (Retd), Director of UPNL, there is a ban on the recruitment of non-servicemen from March 31, 2022, but the ban on their recruitment will be lifted only in case of employment abroad. According to Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, 50 percent of ex-servicemen and 50 percent of the posts will be kept by non-military persons abroad. The reason for this is that there is a high demand for technically skilled people abroad.
