Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that not everyone in Jammu and Kashmir, especially Kashmiri Muslims, is a terrorist and that no one should be viewed with suspicion in connection with the Delhi blasts.
Speaking to reporters after attending a special convocation at Jammu University, Omar Abdullah condemned the deaths of innocent people in the Delhi blasts and said that no religion allows such killings, and an investigation is underway.
“Not everyone in Jammu and Kashmir is a terrorist”
He said, “We must keep in mind that not everyone in Jammu and Kashmir is a terrorist or supports terrorism. Unfortunately, when we stereotype everyone in Jammu and Kashmir, especially Kashmiri Muslims, and assume that every Kashmiri Muslim is a terrorist, it becomes difficult to keep people on the right path. I believe those responsible should be punished, but no innocent person should be harmed.” What did the CM say about the doctor’s dismissal from service?
Responding to a question about educated youth being involved in terrorist activities and the Lieutenant Governor’s government dismissing a doctor from service, the CM said, “Where is it written that educated youth do not engage in such acts? We have seen in the past that an assistant professor was involved. When we say that a person was dismissed on charges of terrorism, why was no action taken against him?”
‘No innocent person should be harmed’
Omar questioned why he was not tried in court if he had links with terrorists and there was evidence against him. Merely dismissing him from service did not resolve the matter, and the result is before you.” He added, “But I would like to reiterate that a few people are responsible for this, and action should be taken against them, but innocent people should not be punished.”
Several Jammu and Kashmir residents arrested
Several Jammu and Kashmir residents have been arrested for being part of a terrorist module that was possibly planning multiple terror attacks at various locations. Meanwhile, fresh CCTV footage has emerged showing the main accused, Dr. Umar Un Nabi, entering the national capital from the Badarpur border in an i20 car, further tightening the noose around the accused in the ongoing blast investigation. The footage shows Umar arriving at the Badarpur toll plaza, where he stops his vehicle, withdraws cash, and hands it over to the toll collector.
According to sources, security agencies have recovered the diaries of Dr. Umar and Dr. Muzammil, accused in the Delhi blast case, containing dates from November 8 to 12. Such an incident was being planned during this time. According to sources, the diary also contains the names of about 25 individuals, most of whom are residents of Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad.
