New Delhi: Life in Jammu and Kashmir is disrupted due to continuous heavy rains. Rivers are in spate. Both road and rail routes have been affected. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, Northern Railway has canceled all trains going from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir till the situation becomes normal. In such a situation, hundreds of tourists and devotees who went there for sightseeing and religious journey were stranded. To provide relief to such people, Northern Railway has taken a big relief initiative.
Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said that a special train is being run from Jammu Tawi to Delhi, so that the stranded passengers can return safely. Unreserved Special Train (04680) departs for Delhi at 4:30 pm. This train will reach Delhi on Friday morning. It will be a completely unreserved train, so that more and more passengers can return by boarding it.
Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay informed that this train is being operated especially keeping in mind the convenience of those passengers and devotees who had reached Katra or Jammu for the darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi but got stuck there due to heavy rains. The railway is trying to ensure that no passenger faces any problem.
Arrangements for food have also been made
Not only train operations, but the food and drink of the people stranded there has also been taken care of. Along with the railways, the local administration and many social organizations have together provided food, water and necessary assistance to the passengers. Additional stalls and medical aid centers have also been set up in the station premises, so that people do not face any kind of problem. More than 60 trains are affected
