Continuous rain for two days has wreaked havoc on Uttarakhand. On the other hand, there is little chance of relief from clouds tomorrow, Wednesday. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the mountainous areas. Especially in the mountainous areas, heavy rain can increase trouble. At the same time, schools will remain closed tomorrow in Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Chamoli and Uttarkashi.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts. While a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in some parts of Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat and Pauri districts. Apart from this, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in other districts as well.
Talking about the coming days, there is a possibility of heavy rain across the state till August 11. The director of the center, Rohit Thapliyal, said that heavy rain in the mountainous areas of the state on August 6 can increase trouble. While giving instructions, he said, avoid travelling in mountainous areas unless necessary and people living near rivers and streams should be more cautious.
Ganga water level crossed the warning line
Due to heavy rains in the mountains and plains simultaneously, the water level of Ganga in Haridwar crossed the warning line. Due to this, Ganga Ghats were evacuated. Villagers in low lying areas were alerted. All schools and Anganwadi centres of the district will remain closed on Wednesday also on the warning of heavy rain.
The water level of Ganga is also increasing due to intermittent rains since Sunday night, due to which the water level of Ganga had reached close to the warning line mark on Monday, but on Tuesday the water level of Ganga crossed the warning line. At 12 noon, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 293.30 meters, which was 30 centimeters more than the warning line of 293 meters. The danger mark of Ganga is 294 meters.
JE Harish Kumar of Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department said that after crossing the warning, the water level of Ganga started decreasing gradually. It came down to 292.15 at 7 pm.
District Magistrate Mayur Dixit has issued orders to close government, semi-government and private schools on Wednesday after Monday. Officers have been instructed to strictly follow the orders
