Chamoli: Niti-Malari highway connecting the India-China border was closed yesterday due to a landslide. Due to the closure of the highway, polling parties going to the Panchayat elections were also stuck in the middle of the way. Efforts were being made to open the highway since yesterday, but due to bad weather, there are a lot of difficulties in opening the highway. However, the highway opened after about 30 hours on the night of 22 July.
Let us tell you that the highway was obstructed near Bhap Kund for the last 30 hours. Due to which many vehicles were stuck in the middle of the way. Along with this, the connection of many villages was cut off from the tehsil headquarters Joshimath. Apart from this, polling parties going to the Panchayat elections were also stuck due to the closure of the highway. Efforts were being made to open the highway since yesterday. However, today on July 22, late in the night, the BRO team succeeded in removing the debris, after which the traffic on the highway was resumed late at night.
Highway was closed due to heavy landslide near Bhap Kund: On the afternoon of 21st July, Niti Malari National Highway connecting India to China border was closed due to heavy landslide near Bhap Kund. Due to landslide, about ten meters of highway was also damaged. Which the team of BRO i.e. Border Road Organization was trying to open. BRO has removed the debris as well as broke the boulder, due to which the highway was able to open so quickly. Otherwise it could have taken more time.
Polling parties were stuck near Bhap Kund: Let us tell you that the first phase of voting is to be held on 24th July for Panchayat elections, for which polling parties are continuously being sent to inaccessible areas, but due to obstruction of the route, polling parties were also stuck near Bhap Kund. At the same time, the team of local administration also reached the spot. Which was waiting for the highway to be made operational. After the highway was made operational, polling parties were sent.
Polling parties departed: For the Uttarakhand three-tier Panchayat elections, polling parties have been dispatched to 11 remote polling stations in Tharali, 16 in Dewal and 10 in Narayanbagh. On Tuesday, polling parties departed for 37 remote polling stations from all three development blocks of Pindar Valley for the Panchayat elections. The first phase of polling is to be held on July 24 in Narayanbagh, Tharali and Dewal development blocks of Pindar Valley.
Polling parties departed from Dewal development block headquarters on Tuesday for two polling stations in Jhaliya, Harmal, Rampur, Torti, Pinau, Balan, Himani, Saurigad, Naldhura, Manmati, Kheta, Mopata, Melkhet, Choting and Van. At the same time, polling parties departed from Tharali block headquarters for both polling stations in Ratgaon including Kolpuri, Gerud, Main, Dungri, Bursol, Chammakhal, Alidhar and Bunga.
Along with this, polling parties have left for the polling stations of Bhulkyani, Sunbhi, Jakh, Bhatiyana, Bamiala, Sainj Khaitoli, Nalgaon Kot, Kothara, Kafoli, Kothli and Chirkhun from Narayanbagh block headquarters. At the same time, polling parties will leave for the remaining polling stations on Wednesday i.e. 23 July.
