New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided 10 locations in five states in connection with the Al-Qaeda Gujarat terror plot case, which allegedly involves illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, officials said on Thursday.
An agency spokesperson said in a statement that NIA teams on Wednesday searched premises belonging to various suspects and their associates in West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Haryana, and Gujarat. The NIA alleged that the case was registered in 2023 and revolves around the illegal infiltration of four Bangladeshi nationals from Bangladesh using forged Indian identity documents by Mohammed Sojibmian, Munna Khalid Ansari, Azrul Islam, and Abdul Latif into India.
The statement said, “These individuals were found to be associated with the banned Al-Qaeda terrorist organization.” These people were involved in collecting and transferring funds to Al-Qaeda operatives in Bangladesh and were also found to be actively instigating Muslim youth.’ The NIA had filed the charge sheet in a special court in Ahmedabad on November 10, 2023.
