New Delhi: It is almost certain that the voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9. India Alliance has fielded Justice B Sudarshan Reddy against NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan. The last date for nomination is August 21. Both the alliances are busy finalizing their strategies in the next two days. It is believed that a contest can be seen between NDA and India Alliance.
As soon as India Alliance fielded its candidates, NDA started changing its strategy. Till now NDA was trying to reach a consensus on the name of its candidate CP Radhakrishnan. For this, Rajnath Singh was also talking to the opposition leaders. If sources are to be believed, NDA is now trying to ensure that CP Radhakrishnan gets maximum votes. It is trying to get some constituent parties of India Alliance on its side. NDA is in a strong position in terms of numbers. NDA has got the support of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Due to which its position has become stronger. However, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided not to support the NDA candidate, due to which the alliance needs to further strengthen its strategy.
The NDA has intensified its contacts with regional parties and independent MPs. On Tuesday, August 19, the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting was held in Delhi, in which the strategy for nomination and garnering support of Radhakrishnan was discussed in detail. The alliance has instructed its MPs to remain united and not let any mistake happen during voting. The NDA also plans to make the nomination on August 20 as a show of strength.
Talking about the All India Alliance, they know that the NDA has the numbers, yet they are looking at this election as an opportunity to give a strong political message. With the selection of B Sudarshan Reddy, the alliance is trying to inspire some disgruntled MPs or allies of the BJP to cross-vote. The alliance is trying to garner support from independent MPs, BJD and other small parties.
Congress, DMK and other allies are using their regional strength to get maximum votes. India Block leaders are in touch with independent MPs and smaller parties. Talks were going on with smaller parties, but no major support has come forward yet. The alliance’s strategy is also to use this election as a demonstration of their unity after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
