New Delhi: The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor set a new record for passenger traffic on its first full day of operation. According to officials, by the time the last train departed at 10:00 pm on February 23, 2026, the total number of passengers on the route surpassed 100,000. This is the highest number ever recorded in a single day. This was the first full day of operation after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the entire corridor and the Meerut Metro a day earlier.
According to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), for passenger convenience, parking facilities for over 8,000 vehicles have been provided at the corridor’s stations. The Ghaziabad station boasts the largest four-wheeler parking facility, capable of accommodating 370 cars and 632 two-wheelers. Sahibabad station has parking space for 76 cars and 223 two-wheelers, while Guldhar station has parking space for 191 cars and 848 two-wheelers.
Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station in Delhi has space for 266 cars and 837 two-wheelers. This station has emerged as a major hub for multi-modal connectivity due to its connections to the bus stand, railway station, and metro. Parking facilities are also available at Anand Vihar station.
Sizable parking capacity has also been developed at stations in Meerut. Meerut South station can accommodate 289 cars and 854 two-wheelers. Modipuram station has parking space for over 135 cars and 1,200 two-wheelers, while Shatabdi Nagar station can accommodate approximately 120 cars and 350 two-wheelers. Parking fees have been kept relatively low for passenger convenience. At stations in Uttar Pradesh, rates are set for bicycles, two-wheelers, and cars based on different time frames, while a similar slab system is in place at Delhi stations.
In addition, passengers are receiving real-time parking availability, live train tracking, station navigation, and last-mile connectivity information through the Namo Bharat Connect app. E-rickshaws, autos, feeder buses, bicycle rentals, and two-wheeler services have also been added to facilitate easy access to stations. Record passenger numbers and extensive parking space utilization on the first day indicate a strong demand for fast and convenient public transport between Delhi and Meerut.
