A unique initiative has been launched in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, which is erasing ethnic identity. This important change can become an example for society.

Many villages, settlements and roads in the rural areas of Sindhudurg have been renamed after great men. A total of 192 caste-based settlements and 25 caste-based roads in rural areas have been renamed. It is noteworthy that Sindhudurg has become the first district in Maharashtra to change such a name.
What is the process:
The process of renaming settlements and roads in rural areas was decided by a government decision. A resolution is passed by the Gram Sabha to rename the roads. A proposal in this regard was received by the Chief Executive Officer from the Group Development Officer. The proposal was sent to the senior office for appropriate action.
Collector approves:
According to the government’s decision, the district collector has been given the right to change the caste-based name and give new names. Under this, a resolution was also moved in the Gram Sabha to change the old caste-based names of a total of 192 settlements and 25 roads in Sindhudurg district. Now, as per the government’s decision, the new proposed names have been approved by changing the caste-based names as per the report received by the Sindhudurg district collector.
What does the minister say:
Parenting Minister Nitesh Rane has praised the Sindhudurg district administration for changing these names by adopting a quick procedure. He said that if there are some names left, they will also be changed. These names have been changed as per the government decision. People have congratulated Nitesh Rane.
