Mussoorie: Heavy rain has been falling in many districts of Uttarakhand since last night. While there is a danger of landslides in the hilly areas due to rain, flood-like conditions have also been created in the cities due to waterlogging in the plain districts. Due to rain, life from the mountains to the plains has been completely disrupted. On Monday, July 21, due to heavy rains, a landslide also occurred on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road, due to which this route was completely blocked.
According to the information, a massive landslide occurred near Woodstock on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road on Monday, due to which the entire route was filled with debris and trees. Soon there were long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. Due to this, people also had to face a lot of trouble.
The road opened after two hours: People stranded in the middle of the way informed the police-administration about the landslide. After the instructions of Mussoorie SDM Kumkum Joshi, the rescue and Public Works Department team reached the spot. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, JCB machines were immediately called. Despite continuous rain and mud, after two hours of hard work, the debris and trees were removed and the road was again opened for traffic.
Trouble increasing due to rain: SDM Joshi informed that the administration is regularly monitoring all the landslide affected areas of Mussoorie. All the concerned departments have been put on alert. The rain has not stopped yet, so immediate action is being taken on every information.
Local people told that rocks suddenly fell from the hill and with a loud roar, large stones fell on the road below. The debris was so much that the entire road was blocked in a few minutes. The administration has also received reports of landslides in other areas like Company Bagh and Spring Road. JCB machines are being sent there too. The administration has appealed to the people to follow the warnings of the Meteorological Department and travel only in case of extreme necessity.
Local resident Dipendra Gunsola said that a landslide had occurred in a large part of the hill near Wood Stock School on Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road, due to which many trees also fell on the road. After the landslide, a huge amount of debris had fallen on the road, due to which the route was closed. He has demanded from the administration to treat the damaged hill soon.
