The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) continues its strict campaign against illegal construction and illegal plotting in its jurisdiction. The MDDA has taken major action against plotting and commercial constructions being carried out in violation of regulations, carrying out demolition and sealing operations at several sites. The authority states that any activity contrary to the Master Plan will not be tolerated and the campaign will continue.
10 Bighas of Illegal Plotting Demolished in Selaqui*
The authority’s team bulldozed an illegal plot being developed on approximately 10 bighas of land in the Sherpur area, behind Shri Ram Centennial School, near the new highway, Selaqui. The landowner, Mr. Praveen Vij, was dividing the plots without an approved layout and necessary permissions. Following complaints and inspections, the authority arrived on the scene and demolished the plotting-related construction. Officials stated that a notice had previously been issued to the parties involved.
*Sealing of Illegal Commercial Construction*
An illegal commercial construction being carried out by Savage in the same area was also sealed. This construction was being carried out without map approval and land use change. The sealing process was completed in the presence of Assistant Engineer Shashank Saxena, Junior Engineer Nitesh Rana, Supervisor Lalit, and police. The Authority clarified that unauthorized construction under the guise of commercial activities will not be tolerated at all.
*Crackdown on multi-story building in Rishikesh*
Sealing action was also taken against an illegal multi-story building being constructed by Ashok Mittal near the Adinath Akhara in Haripur Kala, Rishikesh. Investigation revealed that the building was being constructed without an approved map. Taking serious note of the negligence in safety standards, the Authority sealed the building with immediate effect. Assistant Engineer Abhishek Bhardwaj, Junior Engineer Manish Dimri, supervisor, and police were present during the action.
*Strict message from the Vice President*
Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari stated that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against illegal construction and plotting. He stated that in many cases, despite notices, rules were not followed, necessitating strict action. He emphasized that planned urban development and citizen safety are top priorities. He urged residents to verify the legal status of any plot or building before purchasing it.
Regular monitoring and further campaigns*
Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya stated that continuous inspections are being conducted in the authority’s jurisdiction. Upon receiving information about suspicious construction activities, teams arrive at the site to investigate. He stated that such campaigns will be intensified in the future to ensure orderly development in accordance with the master plan.
The authority clarified that action against illegal colonies and unauthorized constructions will continue, and strict legal action will be taken against those violating the rules.
