The administration has completely resolved the issue of offering namaz in the municipal building in Jyotirmath. Members of the Muslim community will offer namaz at their homes. The building has been locked by the municipal building.
On Thursday, a video of members of the Muslim community offering namaz at the municipal building in Jyotirmath went viral. Hindu organizations strongly objected to this and complained to the administration. Seeing the matter escalate, the municipal board immediately held a board meeting late Thursday evening, in which the building was locked and the Muslim community was instructed to make their own arrangements for namaz.
Instructions to Verify 100% of the People
SDM Jyotirmath Chandrashekhar Vashishtha stated that the video of the namaz offering had gone viral. Proper permission for the hall was not obtained from the municipal hall. The venue has been closed. It was decided that Muslims will offer namaz at their homes, to which the Muslim community has agreed. Complete peace and order prevails in the city. Strict vigil is being maintained for those attempting to disrupt the atmosphere in any way.
In addition, the Jyotirmath police station has been directed to verify 100% of the people from outside the city. If any agency employees are found who have not been verified, appropriate action will be taken.
Friday prayers were offered at homes in the presence of police.
Following the controversy over offering prayers at the municipal building, Friday prayers were offered at a private residence. Iftekhar Malik said, “We have been living here for 35 years. Previously, Ramadan prayers have been offered at the municipal building, and a slip was obtained, but this time, the controversy arose due to the lack of written permission. It is not possible to offer Ramadan prayers indoors; a hall is required for this purpose. Police were also deployed there during this time.”
The dispute will not affect brotherhood.
Salim Raja says, “Our ancestors have lived here for many years. There has never been any problem. The controversy over offering prayers at the municipal hall will not affect brotherhood.”
