Delhi: Many Indian citizens including a medical student from Tamil Nadu are stranded in Russia. MDMK party MP from Trichy Durai Vaiko met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his chamber in the Parliament complex on Monday in this regard. During this, he handed over a letter to PM Modi and requested the safe return of Indians including a medical student from Tamil Nadu stranded in Russia.
Durai Vaiko shared the information about his meeting with PM Modi on social media and wrote that he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his parliamentary office at 12 noon today (August 4).
He said, “I have handed over a request letter signed by 68 MPs from 15 political parties to Prime Minister Modi, requesting the safe evacuation and return of hundreds of Indians including Tamil Nadu medical student Kishore Saravanan stranded in the war-torn area in Russia.” The MP further wrote, “Understanding the dangers arising due to delay in rescuing Indian medical students, immediate steps should be taken to rescue them immediately. Not just Kishore Saravanan; 126 Indians have been forcibly recruited in the army to officially participate in the Russia-Ukraine war. People from various states have been affected in this way in search of education and livelihood.” Sending Indians to war is against the foreign ministry agreements between India and Russia. Durai Vaiko wrote in his post, “Sending Indians to the war zone by giving them compulsory military training is completely wrong.” He said, “I told PM Modi that I have already met Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on this issue, raised it in Parliament, and met the Foreign Secretary and gave a detailed explanation. After hearing this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the work of evacuating Indian students stranded in Russia has started and it will be expedited.”
