Pithoragarh: Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route has been closed due to hill cracking in Pithoragarh district. Hundreds of pilgrims are stranded on the route due to halt in vehicular movement. According to information received from disaster management, a huge rock slipped on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route between Ailaagad and Kulaagad late on Monday night. Due to this, vehicular movement has come to a halt. Pilgrims going and returning to visit Adi Kailash and Om Parvat are stranded on the route.
BRO has started the work of opening the road. The road closed due to the fall of a huge rock is expected to open by late evening today. In such a situation, pilgrims and local people may have to face problems.
Dharchula SDM Manjeet Singh said that a huge rock has fallen on the route. The work of removing boulders and debris is going on. The road will be opened for vehicles by evening.
