State Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi held a meeting with officials of the Rural Development Department at his camp office today to conduct a detailed review of the damage caused in rural areas during this year’s natural disaster. Joshi gathered information from officials about the damage in the disaster-affected areas and provided necessary guidance.
Instructing officials, the Rural Development Minister stated that proposals for beneficiaries whose houses were damaged under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) should be prepared expeditiously and submitted to the Government of India. He also stated that the affected people should be provided with prompt benefits through an appropriate scheme for the reconstruction of Panchayat buildings, schools, etc., and micro and medium-sized businesses in rural areas affected by the disaster.
During the meeting, officials informed the Minister that proposals for disaster-related damage in three districts of the state—Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Dehradun—had been submitted to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) through the Rural Development Redevelopment Project (REAP). IFAD has approved ₹26 crore for these districts. Through this amount, affected villagers whose micro and medium businesses were damaged during the disaster will be benefited under the REAP project.
Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi directed the officials to complete all the paperwork quickly and start work on the ground, so that the affected people can get relief as soon as possible.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary Rural Development Jharna Kamthan, Chief Development Officer Dehradun Abhinav Shah, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar and other officials were present
