State Agriculture, Rural Development, and Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi held a review meeting of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Sainik Welfare, and Rural Development departments of Nainital district at the Kathgodam Circuit House on Thursday during his visit to Kumaon. During the meeting, he obtained detailed information about various central and state government schemes and gave necessary instructions to the officials.
Minister Ganesh Joshi stated that schemes such as Lakhpati Didi, migration prevention schemes, Apple Mission, Kiwi Mission, natural farming, beekeeping, honey village development, and polyhouse establishment are crucial in strengthening the livelihoods of farmers and rural women. He instructed officials to ensure 100% implementation of these schemes and that the benefits reach the actual beneficiaries on time.
He directed officials to immediately settle pending claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme) to provide timely relief to farmers. Emphasizing the need to review the quality of equipment distributed by the Agriculture Department, he gave clear instructions that the materials provided to farmers should be useful and durable. He also directed officials to meet the targets set at the Nyaya Panchayat level and ensure the timely availability of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. The Minister instructed land conservation officers to regularly monitor the geo-line tanks and stressed the importance of increasing millet production in the district. He also issued a strict warning to all officials not to attend meetings without proper preparation.
During the review of the Rural Development Department, Minister Ganesh Joshi said that more beneficiaries should be included in the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Yojana. He directed officials to ensure that the benefits of the schemes under the RIP project reach a wider section of the general public. He also emphasized the need for stronger coordination among the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Rural Development departments and continuous dialogue with elected representatives.
In the review of the Sainik Welfare Department, the Minister directed that the land-related process for the hostel being built in Haldwani for the dependents and children of martyrs be completed within 15 days through a joint inspection, and that the estimates be submitted promptly. He also stressed the need for the reconstruction of the District Sainik Rest House and office and directed that estimates for this project be prepared soon. Minister Ganesh Joshi announced that the hostel being built in Haldwani for the dependents and children of martyrs will be named after the late General B.C. Joshi. The Minister for Sainik Welfare (Soldiers’ Welfare) also stated that a grand gateway will soon be constructed at the entrance of Haldwani, also in the name of the late General B.C. Joshi. The Minister issued necessary directives to the Kumaon Commissioner and the District Magistrate of Nainital, instructing them to complete the construction work in a timely manner. He said that this initiative will serve to remind future generations of the contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs.
