Communal harmony was saved from being spoilt due to the love affair between a class 11 student studying in a reputed school of Nainital city and a youth of another community. As soon as the matter came to light, Bajrang Dal workers raised slogans outside the police station on Wednesday night. Seeing the matter getting out of hand after the objectionable comment of the Maulana, police force was deployed from the police station to the mosque. After the matter calmed down, the angry mob reached the house of the youth and beat up his father.
According to the police, a youth of another community in Mallital area reached the police station to give a statement in some case. The class 11 student also reached the police station with her grandmother. When both of them did not reach home till late evening, the family reached the police station. The matter got out of hand when they saw their daughter sitting in the police station with a youth of another community.
At the police station, the family came to know that the youth was made to sit for questioning by the police on the charge of molesting another girl during the day and the girl was sitting there in support of the accused. Seeing this, the family slapped the girl in the police station itself. After this, the girl refused to go home with her family.
When the Hindu organizations came to know about the case, they surrounded the police station with the family at 8 pm. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police called police from other police stations and deployed them from the front of the police station to the mosque. The family of the girl says that she was in contact with the young man for some time, who used to make her consume drugs. The family objected to this.
The workers of the Hindu organization stood in the police station accusing the people of the other community. After one party left the spot, the police was guessing that the matter would calm down, but as soon as the people standing outside got the information that the young man had gone home, they reached his house Sukhatal. When the young man was not found there, they beat up his father Nazar Khan. The family somehow saved Nazar from the youths and hid him in the house of the neighbors. They also informed the police. When the police reached the spot on receiving the information, the youths who were beating him ran away. After this, the injured was brought to the hospital. Dr. Divyanshu Punetha said that he has been discharged after treatment.
Kotwal Hem Chandra Pant said that after the complaint of the family, the police counseled the girl student. All the parties are being questioned. Further action will be taken only after this.
FIR submitted against Maulana
Bajrang Dal people have objected to the objectionable statement of Maulana. The atmosphere became calm due to the vigilance of the police. After the incident of rape of a girl in Mallital on April 30, Hindu organizations vandalized shops and created a ruckus. After the incident, the local people closed Nainital in protest. The atmosphere of Nainital remained tense for many days due to the incident. When people of two communities reached the police station on Wednesday night, the police got nervous. As a precaution, force was called from nearby police stations. The police somehow calmed down the people of the Hindu organizations. This prevented the atmosphere of the city from getting spoiled
