The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) is continuously taking strict action against illegal constructions and unauthorized plotting within its jurisdiction. The MDDA is constantly monitoring illegal activities that violate regulations and is carrying out sealing and demolition drives. In this regard, demolition action was taken today against identified illegal plotting in the authority’s area, as per the rules. The MDDA team demolished illegal plotting being carried out on approximately 8 bighas of land by the concerned individual/landowner near the Harbhajwala bridge area in Dehradun. This plotting, being developed without approval, was found to be in violation of the development authority’s rules, and immediate action was taken to demolish it using a JCB.
In addition, the MDDA also took action against illegal plotting being carried out by Arun Chauhan on approximately 4 to 5 bighas of land on Tuntowala Road, Mehuwala Mafi area. Plots were being carved out at the site without layout approval and necessary permissions. Illegal plotting not only affects urban planning but also causes serious problems for ordinary citizens in the future. Considering this, the authority has adopted a strict policy against such activities. The public is appealed to verify the legality of any land or plot with the concerned development authority before purchasing it.
This demolition action was carried out in compliance with the orders of Joint Secretary Gaurav Chatwal, in the presence of Assistant Engineer Vijay Singh Rawat, Junior Engineer Abhijit Singh Thalwal, and the authority’s enforcement team, including supervisors. Necessary arrangements were made to handle any untoward situation during the operation. Similar strict action will continue against illegal constructions and plotting in the future, and no leniency will be shown to those who violate the rules at any level.
*Statement by Vice Chairman, MDDA, Banshidhar Tiwari*
A continuous campaign is being conducted against illegal constructions and illegal plotting in the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority area. The authority’s objective is to make urban development planned and safe. Illegal plotting not only spoils the city’s appearance but also puts the hard-earned money of ordinary citizens at risk. The MDDA is working on a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities. We appeal to all citizens to verify the legality of any land before purchasing it. Strict action will continue to be taken against those who violate the rules in the future, and no one will be considered above the law.
*Statement by MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia*
The authority is taking strict action against illegal plotting and construction in accordance with the rules. Today’s action was also taken in the same context. The MDDA’s endeavor is to ensure planned development in the area and to prevent any inconvenience to the general public. It is the responsibility of the landowners to ensure that all construction work is carried out only after obtaining approval from the authority. Regular campaigns against illegal activities will continue in the future as well.
