The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) continues its strict crackdown on illegal constructions in the city. Demolition and sealing measures were taken against illegal residential constructions and plotting at various locations along the Shimla Bypass Road within the authority’s jurisdiction. This action was carried out on the orders of Joint Secretary Gaurav Chatwal. The MDDA team, taking strict action against illegal construction and plotting in Balaji Enclave, Shimla Bypass Road, bulldozed and sealed several sites.
Illegal plotting on approximately 10 bighas of land by Mahesh Upadhyay, Satish, and others was demolished. Illegal residential buildings constructed by Ikhlaq and others were also sealed. An illegal residential construction by Shaikeen was also sealed. Assistant Engineer Vijay Singh Rawat, Junior Engineer Jitendra Kumar, and a supervisor were present during the action.

MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari stated that the authority will not tolerate any illegal construction taking place in the city without approval. Strict action will continue against those violating development standards and building bylaws. He stated that this campaign is in the public interest and aims to ensure the planned development of the city. MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari clarified that the MDDA operates under a transparent governance system and ensures prompt investigation and necessary action on any complaints. The MDDA has appealed to the general public to obtain approval from the authority before undertaking any construction work, otherwise action will be taken in case of violation of rules.

MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya stated that any type of illegal colony or unauthorized construction will not be tolerated in the authority area. Strict action is being taken against those who have plotted or constructed buildings without approval, as per the rules. He stated that the MDDA’s objective is to develop Dehradun into a well-planned and organized city. Constant monitoring and action are underway in this direction. Citizens are urged not to be misled by any individual or organization and begin construction without approval. Doing so will force the authority to seal the building and initiate demolition proceedings
