The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed a multi-story building in Rishikesh as part of its ongoing campaign against illegal construction. The action was taken against construction being carried out without an approved map in Gali No. 10, Maniram Marg. After receiving a complaint about the construction, a team of officials visited the site and inspected the building, finding violations. The building was immediately sealed.
According to reports, Sarla Agarwal and Renu Goyal were constructing a multi-story building in the Maniram Marg area. The authority received a complaint regarding the construction, following which relevant officials were sent to investigate the site. During the inspection, it was found that the building was neither in accordance with the approved map nor had the necessary permissions been obtained from the authority. Upon confirming the violations, the MDDA team took immediate action, sealing the building and completely halting construction work. During the sealing operation, the building premises were closed and all activity was prohibited. Authority officials say that unauthorized construction in the city not only impacts urban planning but also puts additional pressure on traffic, security, and infrastructure. Therefore, strict action is being taken in such cases.
Illegal constructions are being continuously monitored in the authority area. To this end, separate teams have been formed, which periodically inspect various areas. Wherever construction without permission or contrary to the map is reported, immediate action is taken. The authority believes that adherence to construction regulations is essential for the balanced and planned development of the city. Assistant Engineer Abhishek Bhardwaj, Junior Engineer Poonam Saklani, Junior Engineer Amit Bhardwaj, supervisors, and police were present during the operation. After inspecting the entire area, the team sealed the construction site and completed the relevant documentation. The authority says that this campaign against illegal construction will continue.

MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari stated that illegal construction in the authority area is unacceptable under any circumstances. He stated that compliance with building regulations is essential for the orderly development of the city and a safe urban structure. Construction of multi-story buildings without approved maps is a serious violation, and the authority is continuously monitoring this. The sealing action taken in Rishikesh is a step in this direction. He clarified that strict action will be taken against those who build against the rules, and demolition action may also be taken if necessary.
