Stepping up its crackdown on illegal construction, the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has sealed a building under construction in the Dehrakhas area. This action was taken as part of the continuous inspection drive being conducted by the Authority, under which construction work undertaken without an approved building plan is deemed a violation of regulations and is halted with immediate effect.

According to information received from the Authority, construction work was being carried out by Dineshwar Pandit and Suraj in Ved City, Lane No. 1, Dehrakhas, without an approved building plan. Following a complaint, a team visited the site to conduct an inspection; upon finding the construction to be illegal, they proceeded to seal the building. Officials made it clear that no form of construction contrary to established regulations would be tolerated.

This entire operation was executed in compliance with the directives of Joint Secretary Pratyush Kumar. The construction work was halted and the building sealed in the presence of Assistant Engineer Nishant Kukreti and a supervisor at the site. The team conveyed a clear message that the rigorous campaign against illegal construction within the Authority’s jurisdiction would continue unabated.
The MDDA asserts that construction activities undertaken without approval not only disrupt urban planning but also pose significant safety risks in the future. The Authority is maintaining constant vigilance over such matters, and immediate action is being taken wherever irregularities are detected. Authority officials have clarified that this campaign against illegal construction will continue consistently moving forward. Obtaining approval for building plans is mandatory before undertaking any construction work. MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stated that illegal construction within the Authority’s jurisdiction will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He stated that for the planned development of the city and the safety of its citizens, it is absolutely essential that all construction activities adhere strictly to established regulations. Construction undertaken without an approved building plan not only constitutes a violation of the law but also significantly increases the risk of future accidents. He informed that the Authority is conducting regular inspections, and immediate action is being taken wherever irregularities are detected. Strict action will be ensured against those who disregard these regulations.

MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barnia stated that the Authority is conducting a continuous drive against illegal construction. In the Dehrakhas area, sealing operationsโin accordance with regulationsโhave been initiated following the discovery of unauthorized construction work. He further informed that all Assistant Engineers and field teams have been instructed to conduct regular inspections. Immediate action is being ensured whenever any irregularity is detected, with the aim of completely curbing illegal construction activities.
