Dehradun: Discussions about Panchayat elections are common in Uttarakhand these days. After the approval of the Panchayat Raj Act Amendment Ordinance, the election can be announced anytime now. Before that, the maximum expenditure limit of candidates in Panchayat elections has been increased.
For this, the maximum expenditure limit for the post of member Gram Panchayat has been kept at Rs 10 thousand. For the post of Deputy Pradhan Gram Panchayat, the maximum expenditure limit has been increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 75 thousand, for the post of Pradhan Gram Panchayat, the maximum expenditure limit has been increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 75 thousand. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of member Kshetra Panchayat has been increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 75 thousand. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of member Zilla Panchayat has been increased from Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand to Rs 2 lakh. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of Junior Deputy Chief has been increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 75 thousand. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of Senior Deputy Chief has been increased from Rs 60 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of Pramukh Kshetra Panchayat has been increased from 1.4 lakh to 2 lakh. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of Vice President Zila Panchayat has been increased from 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh. The maximum expenditure limit for the post of President Zila Panchayat has been increased from 3.5 lakh to 4 lakh.
State Election Commission Secretary Rahul said that the limit of election expenditure of candidates has been increased in the upcoming proposed Panchayat elections as compared to the Panchayat elections held in the year 2019. However, no change has been made in the maximum expenditure limit prescribed for Member Gram Panchayat and Deputy Pradhan Gram Panchayat. Apart from this, the maximum expenditure limit prescribed for Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Member Kshetra Panchayat, Member Zila Panchayat, Junior Deputy Chief, Senior Deputy Chief, Chief Kshetra Panchayat, Vice President Zila Panchayat, President Zila Panchayat has been increased in view of the upcoming Panchayat elections as compared to the year 2019.
