Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today listened to the 132nd episode of the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, held at the Hotel Royal Inn Palace in Indiranagar, Dehradun. On this occasion, he shared his thoughts on various aspects of the program with the public representatives and citizens present.
The Chief Minister stated that ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a unique platform for public dialogue initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and stands as one of the longest-running inspirational programs conducted by any head of state in the world. This program provides national-level recognition and honor to individuals from diverse sections of societyโparticularly those performing exemplary work in remote and challenging environments.
He noted that the Prime Minister highlights the contributions of individuals working in every corner of the countryโthose who, despite limited resources, perform extraordinary deeds and serve as an inspiration to society. Through ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ the stories of such personalities reach citizens across the nation, thereby fostering a sense of positive energy and inspiration.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Prime Minister makes a special reference to Uttarakhand in almost every one of his programs. Several episodes of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ have featured mentions of the state’s winter tourism, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.
The Prime Minister himself has visited various religious and tourist sites in Uttarakhand, most notably Adi Kailash and the Harsil-Mukhwa region in the district of Uttarkashi. The positive impact of these visits by the Prime Ministerโalong with his references to the regionโis clearly evident in the state’s tourism sector.
The Chief Minister remarked that winter tourism in Uttarakhand has received an unprecedented boost this year. To date, over 150,000 tourists have arrived in the state for winter travel, while more than 36,700 devotees and tourists have visited the Adi Kailash region. These figures underscore the continuously growing potential within the state’s tourism sector.
The state government is making continuous efforts to promote year-round tourism activities, with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as an ‘All-Season Tourism Destination.’ To this end, infrastructure facilities at tourist destinations are being expanded, road connectivity is being improved, accommodation arrangements are being developed, and digital amenities are being strengthened.
The Chief Minister further stated that the state government is developing tourism as a key medium to enhance the livelihoods of local residents and generate new employment opportunities. Rural tourism, the homestay scheme, and religious tourism are being specifically encouraged, thereby boosting economic activity even in the remote regions of the state.
