Dehradun (Uttarakhand): A major accident occurred today in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. A private bus caught fire at St. Jude Chowk in the Patel Nagar police station area of Dehradun. Panic ensued inside the bus. With the help of traffic police and local residents, the children were safely evacuated from the bus. Local residents informed the fire brigade. Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade and traffic police arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.
According to reports, 40 students from Tamil Nadu, on an all-India tour, were in danger when their moving bus suddenly started emitting smoke near St. Jude Chowk on the Shimla Bypass Road in the Patel Nagar police station area. The smoke caused panic among the students. Thanks to the quick thinking and prompt action of the traffic police personnel and some other people present at the scene, all the students were safely evacuated in time. The fire brigade was also informed, and their team arrived and extinguished the fire. Patel Nagar Police Station इंचार्ज Chandrabhan Adhikari said that approximately 40 students from Tamil Nadu were on board the bus. These students were on an all-India tour. In the morning, the group had left Haridwar and was on its way to visit the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun. As soon as the bus reached St. Jude Chowk, smoke suddenly started coming from near the engine. As smoke filled the bus, the students started screaming. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the driver pulled the bus over to the side. Meanwhile, traffic police personnel also arrived at the scene.
A rescue operation was immediately launched. All 40 students were safely evacuated one by one through the bus doors and windows. He said that fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. According to the police, the fire was likely caused by a short circuit in the bus. The police are currently investigating the matter.
