Tezpur (Assam): Several people have died in a horrific road accident in Arunachal Pradesh. A truck carrying 22 laborers from Tinsukia reportedly fell into a gorge from a hillside. Fourteen people died in the accident, while one person who was critically injured has been shifted to Dibrugarh.
According to reports, the accident occurred on the Saglagam Road, about 47 kilometers from Hayuliang, between Mithungna and Mailang villages in the Lailang area of โโAnjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh. Hayuliang Additional Deputy Commissioner Julity Mihu said that a pickup truck carrying the laborers fell off the hilly road. The bodies of the 14 people who died in the accident have been recovered, and one critically injured person has been shifted to Dibrugarh. All the deceased laborers were from Tinsukia. She said the incident occurred on Monday night, and authorities were informed about the incident by passersby last night. She added that rescue operations are underway. Several rescue teams, medical teams, police, NDRF, SDRF, and GREF representatives are conducting the operation in coordination with the civil administration. All efforts are being made to find the missing people despite the difficult terrain.
