Valsad (Gujarat): An accident occurred on Friday, December 12th, at around 8 a.m. on the new bridge under construction over the Auranga River on Kailash Road in Valsad city. A girder collapsed, injuring five construction workers. Construction of the new bridge is underway next to the old bridge over the Auranga River on Kailash Road in the city.
How the accident happened:
Work on placing and leveling girders for the new bridge over the Auranga River began 15 days ago. A temporary support installed on the upper part of the bridge to support the girder slipped, causing one of the girders to collapse. This information was given to the media present at the scene by Valsad District DSP Yuvraj Singh Jadeja. Five workers injured:
Five workers were injured in this early morning incident. All workers are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. Police arrived at the scene as soon as the incident was reported. An investigation has been launched.

Chaos after the accident:
As soon as news of this early morning incident in Valsad spread, panic erupted. A crowd gathered at the scene. The injured workers were immediately taken to the hospital by 108 ambulance. The remaining workers were also given first aid.
As soon as the incident was reported, the Mamlatdar, provincial officials, police, and other administrative officials arrived at the scene. Leaders of the city’s ruling party, as well as independent leaders, also arrived. People from the surrounding area also gathered. The foundation stone was laid last year:
