The district is witnessing a major auspicious period for weddings on April 13 and 14. Consequently, queues are forming at the Supply Office for the procurement of gas cylinders. On Tuesday, the department received approximately 150 applications from across the district. Supply Inspectors verified these applications and, approving 50 of them, issued orders to gas agencies to provide cylinders specifically for wedding purposes. The verification process for the remaining 100 applications is currently underway.
Amidst the prevailing cooking gas crisis, families hosting wedding ceremonies have grown increasingly anxious. Conversely, the Supply Department has issued guidelines for such individuals, under which they are being provided with two cylinders each, following the completion of necessary formalities. To facilitate this, a letter—serving as an official order—is being issued to the consumer from the office, to be presented alongside their wedding invitation card.
This letter does not specify the name of a particular gas agency; this allows the consumer to visit their nearest gas agency, present the order, and obtain a temporary commercial connection. The District Supply Office has issued specific directives to all gas agencies regarding this arrangement. These directives instruct the agencies to maintain a reserve of commercial cylinders to meet the demand for wedding-related requirements, thereby ensuring they can be supplied to consumers.
**Weddings on April 20? Applications Accepted Until the 15th**
The DSO (District Supply Officer) has expressed concern regarding the overcrowding at Supply Offices and the resulting inconvenience faced by the public. He has appealed to those families hosting weddings after April 20 to submit their applications by April 15. This measure aims to spare them from having to contend with large crowds. He further assured that no delays would be permitted in the issuance of temporary connections to these applicants.
**21,203 Cylinders Received; 7,882 Distributed**
On Tuesday, approximately 21,203 gas cylinders arrived in the district from various bottling plants. Of these, around 7,882 cylinders were successfully distributed. In addition to these, 560 commercial cylinders were received; against this stock, gas was distributed to 888 commercial consumers. There are 28,499 domestic gas cylinders and 4,425 commercial gas cylinders available in the district.
Temporary gas connections for weddings are being issued on an immediate basis. More than 150 applications have been received, and 50 have been approved so far. If any complaints regarding irregularities are received against a gas agency, strict action will be taken against it
